2012 makes 35 years since Fleetwood Mac released 'Rumours,' and the band plans to celebrate by re-releasing the album as part of box sets that comes loaded with unreleased live tracks and session recordings. Both expanded and deluxe editions of 'Rumours' go on sale Jan. 29.

Covering Fleetwood Mac seems to be a hip thing to do these days. Back in August a tribute album came out featuring Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Marianne Faithful and a strong crop of some of today's most acclaimed young groups. Next month will see a CD featuring more indie bands tackling Fleetwood Mac's classic 1977 album 'Rumours.'

Few classic albums in rock history have as famous a backstory as Fleetwood Mac's 1977 album, 'Rumours.' Ken Caillat, who co-produced the album with the band and Richard Dashut, has written a book, 'Making 'Rumours:' The Inside Story of the Classic Fleetwood Mac Album,' designed to clear up some of the, well, rumors about what took place during the sessions for the album.

Partially driven by the song featured in the No. 40 position on our Top 100 Classic Rock Songs list, Fleetwood Mac's legendary 1977 record 'Rumours' has moved more than 19 million copies in the U.S. alone.
